Observaciones y contexto

- Among other famous women who fought against the Romans, we can mention Cleopatra (-69/-30) or Zenobia of Palmyra (245- c.290).

- The figure of Boudicca would be forgotten until the reign of Elizabeth I when she began to gain importance in the history of Britain as a national symbol.

- Later, Queen Victoria would also rescue her to reaffirm her role as queen of the empire, since their names meant the same thing. The Queen's poet laureate, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, wrote a poem entitled Boadicea, and several ships were named after her. Between 1850 and 1860, with the support of Prince Albert, Thomas Thornycroft made a statue of Boudicca with her two daughters in a horse-drawn carriage.

- It would later become the symbol adopted by the suffragettes in the marches of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies.

- To expand on this we can ask students to look for other warrior queens or princesses in different cultures.

Descripción

In this activity we work on listening comprehension using a video from the British Council which can be found on YouTube.
The students have to introduce the missing regular verbs in the past tense. Then, we explain the difference in pronunciation between them and they will be classified into the three different groups. Finally, we will ask five simple comprehension questions.
This activity can last for one session.

The aim is to practise the simple past tense of regular verbs and their pronunciation.
Common past actions and situations. Sound patterns.
