Telesilla was a lyrical poet from the year 510 BC, who created the telesillean verse and led the Battle of Sepeia against Cleomenes I, and she saved the city of Argos; claimed for equality and public participation of women in Argos and gave rise to the Hybristika festival.

1. Read the short fragment of the parthenium, composed to be performed by a choir of virgins, which we have preserved from Telesila and look for information to answer the questions:

ἁ δ᾽ Ἁρτεμις, ὦ κόραι,
φεύγοισα τὸν Ἀλφεόν…

                                         Hephaestion: Enchiridion, 11, 2.

Translation:

Artemis, girls,
fleeing from Alpheus...

a- What is a parthenium

b- Who is Alpheus?

c- Why does Artemis run away from him?

You will learn the name of some Greek rivers with the following map.

Our own translation from:

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfeo_(mitolog%C3%ADa)#/media/Archivo:Grecia-rios-2.png

2. In the blanks, write the names of the following rivers linked to Greek mythology and literature: Alfeios, Achelous, Acheron, Scamander, and Eurotas.

Descripción

In the preserved parthenium of Telesilla about Artemis and Alpheus, there is a reference to this river. Based on it, we will also study the Peloponnese river and, in a blank physical map, we will write some of their names.
