Aquesta activitat obri pas a un debat que porte a un projecte final d'investigació.
- Clàssica artista femenina de blues dels anys 20 i 30 les lletres franques dels quals tracten sobre la sexualitat d'una manera que aconsegueix cridar l'atenció.
- Contemporànies seues són: Gladys Bentley (1907-1960), Victoria Spivey (1906-1976), Memphis Minnie (1897-1973), Mamie Smith (1883-1946), Gertrude “Dt.” Rainer (1882- 1939).
- Referents actuals: Saffire- The Uppity Blues Women (1990-2010), Ann Rabson (1945) i Asylum Street Spankers (1990-).
Descripció
En aquesta activitat l'alumnat coneixerà a una de les precursores del blues, tant en la seua faceta de compositora com de cantant. Observarà les estructures col·loquials derivades d'algunes formes verbals i s'acostarà a l'anglés americà de principis de segle. Així aprendrà l'evolució del llenguatge i s'acostarà a formes diferents de l'anglés estrictament acadèmic. En aquest cas s'aborda a través d'una cançó revolucionària, ja que parla clarament sobre el concepte de lesbianisme i empoderament femení.
