-Watch the video about the artist Shamsia Hassani. Answer any question your teacher may ask or ask any question you may have.
https://youtu.be/FsJc8li48Dc (retrieved on: 06-04-2022)

1. Why is art important?
2. What is Shamsia’s job?
3. Why does she paint in the streets?
4. Is painting in the streets safe?
5. How is the woman that she introduces in the paintings?
6. What is her goal?

Observations and context

I would propose this activity as a continuation of a previous reading (I love grafiti) in which the artist's work is introduced.

Other contemporary painters and illustrators are: Marjane Satrapi (Iran.1969-), Carmen García Huerta (Madrid.1975-), Sarah Arnett(Brighton. UK), Sarah Beetson (UK).

Other women contemporaries of Shamsia who seek to give voice to women in oppressed environments or where the female voice is silenced are Rachel Corrie (USA. 1979-2003), Susan C. Faludi (USA. 1959-), Mary Fisher (USA. 1948-).

We will watch a video about Shamsia Hassani and ask questions to make sure students are following the content of the video.
Distinguishing types of comprehension (general meaning, essential information, main points, relevant details).
