You might have been hypnotised by the movement of the windscreen wiper on a rainy day. Although the first windscreen wiper, invented by Mary Anderson, was manually operated, today, this movement is carried out by an electric motor as it is shown in the picture:

3. In the worm gear mechanism shown in the figure, the gear has 14 cogs .
a) At what speed does the gear turn when the engine rotates at 3000 rpm?
b) How many cogs should the gear have, so that when the engine rotates at 3000 rpm, the axis on which the gear is mounted rotates at 100 rpm?

Descripción
Exercises to put into practice the concepts of movement transmission and transformation, within the topic of mechanisms.
OBJECTIVES:
Analysing technological objects to find out their usefulness; describing the different mechanisms responsible for transforming and transmitting movements, explaining the function of the elements that make them up and calculating, where appropriate, the transmission relationship, in order to understand how they work in the objects they are part of.
