This text can be the first of several activities to work on Shamsia: watching a video (Art is stronger than war), describing her grafiti (Drawing grafiti) and interviewing the artist (Interviewing Shamsia).
Other contemporary painters and illustrators are: Marjane Satrapi (Iran.1969-), Carmen García Huerta (Madrid.1975-), Sarah Arnett (Brighton. UK), Sarah Beetson (UK).
Other women contemporaries of Shamsia who seek to give voice to women in oppressed environments or where the female voice is silenced are Rachel Corrie (USA. 1979-2003), Susan C. Faludi (USA. 1959-), Mary Fisher (USA. 1948-).

In this activity we will introduce and/or recall vocabulary related to painting and read a text to introduce the artist Shamsia Hassani.
