Enunciat
Look at the mosaic of Empress Theodora of Byzantium, who lived in the 6th century AD, and answer the questions:
1.- ¿Quién es la emperatriz Teodora en el mosaico? ¿En qué se distingue del resto de personajes? ¿Qué impresión te causa su figura?
2.- Busca el término cesaropapismo y a continuación explica qué significa la corona y el nimbo sobre la cabeza de Teodora o el manto púrpura y el cáliz que sostiene.
3.- Comprueba si aparecen las características del arte bizantino: isocefalia, frontalidad, pies en "V", horror vacui, ausencia de movimiento, hieratismo.
4.- El mosaico está compuesto de teselas que siguen la técnica del opus tesselatum (mayores de 4 mm) y del opus vermiculatum (menores de 4 mm). ¿Qué técnica se utilizaría para los contornos de las figuras y cuál para el relleno?
5.- En la revuelta de la Nika el emperador Justiniano estuvo a punto de huir pero, gracias a las valientes palabras de su esposa Teodora, sofocó a los insurrectos y mantuvo el Imperio. Lee las siguientes palabras del historiador Procopio y haz una pequeña reflexión sobre qué significaba el poder para Teodora y si se sentía capacitada para ejercerlo.

6.- ¿Consideras que será necesario que en los libros de texto cuando se mencione a Justiniano se nombre también a Teodora? ¿Por qué?

The Byzantine empresses gained political prominence over time. In the 5th century we find Eudoxia, who exerted a great influence on the politics of the Empire. In the XI century, Zoe survived three emperor husbands and many conspiracies and power games. In the XII century, Ana Komnene was the author of the Alexiad, the history of her father's reign.
