Observaciones y contexto

The Byzantine empresses gained political prominence over time. In the 5th century we find Eudoxia, who exerted a great influence on the politics of the Empire. Eudoxia protected the Jews and pagans and favored culture; among her works, a paraphrase of the Octateuch in hexameters stands out. Pulcheria ensured the continuity of the Byzantine Empire in a time of great upheaval.

Theodora, the co-regent empress, lived in the 6th century, but later on we find Irene, who in the VIII century convened two councils and, after finishing her son off, became the first Byzantine empress to ascend the throne, not as a consort or regent, but in her own name. In the XI century, Zoe survived three emperor husbands and many conspiracies and power games. In the XII century, Ana Komnene was the author of the Alexiad, the history of her father's reign.

The activity could also be carried out in Classical Culture in 3rd and 4th ESO, in the block Classical roots of today's world. History and socio-political evolution.
